Six young Queensland referees have been selected to officiate at the 2019 FFA National Youth Championships (NYC) for Boys.
Brisbane’s Mackenzie Janes, Ben Orwell and Dion Bradley will join Sunshine Coast referees Isaac Priest and Luca Ferroussat and Liam O’Connor from Townsville as match officials at the tournament in Coffs Harbour this September and October.
Queensland match officials Alex King, Jacque Leleu and Paul Eldridge will also be in attendance as referee instructors at the 2019 tournament.
FQ State Referee Coach Mark Simon-Green said the selection was well deserved by all six of the young referees.
“It is a credit to the determination of all these referees and is reward for all the hard work that they have put in over the past 12 months,” Simon-Green said.
“They have all worked hard on their refereeing skills and fitness throughout the year and have attended one or more state tournaments and performed well.
“It also shows that any referee from anywhere in the state can achieve the results if you are willing to work hard and commit to better yourself on the field.”
All six of the Queensland referees selected have officiated at state league level this year in the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland.
After a standout performance at the NYC for Girls tournament earlier this year, Ferroussat was selected directly from this to officiate at the 2019 NYC for Boys tournament.
The NYC for Boys will kick off on Monday, 30 September and conclude on Friday, 4 October and showcase some of the best young talent from each Member Federation.
Both Country and Metro teams from across the country will compete in Under 13 and Under 14 age groups at the tournament.
