Football Queensland (FQ) has today announced the appointment of Robert Cavallucci as Chief Executive Officer.
FQ President Ben Richardson said the Board’s decision to appoint Mr Cavallucci followed a rigorous and competitive recruitment process, which attracted strong candidates from around the world.
“Robert is an exceptional candidate. The Board is delighted that he has accepted the offer to lead the company at this important point in our history, as we seek to unite the game in Queensland,” Richardson said.
“Robert will be required to operationalise and deliver on FQ’s recently-published strategic plan for 2020-22. It leverages our ever-growing participation base, builds on the game’s multicultural strengths and delivers new product formats for juniors, women and girls, and players of all abilities. It also invests in the capability of our people and focuses heavily on the participant experience.
“Robert was a managing director in the infrastructure and urban renewal business at PwC in Brisbane. He has been a former member of the Queensland Parliament, recently on the advisory board of Brisbane Roar and holds a number of corporate and community organisation board positions. The FQ Board is confident in his ability to achieve results and deliver for our participants and stakeholders,” he said.
Mr Cavallucci said it was a privilege to be appointed CEO of Football Queensland.
“My involvement with football spans nearly 40 years; I have been intimately involved across all levels of the football landscape from grass roots community to high performance in the A-League. I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with the board and the team at FQ, to unite all Queenslanders and stakeholders of the game behind a common purpose and vision,“ Cavallucci said.
“I am committed to ensuring that every Queenslander has improved access to affordable football alongside an overall better football experience, whilst also acknowledging the holistic requirements of the game and the immense challenges the great variation across our state presents.
“Collectively we will focus on improving organisational performance by implementing positive reform and driving operational excellence through a streamlined governance and administration model.
“I understand the broader opportunities and priorities, and I’m determined to make progress with developing the women’s game, competition reform, junior player pathways and infrastructure through purposeful consultation and collaboration. Together we will work closely with our regional zones, clubs, communities and governments across the state to address the current and future needs of football.
“I look forward to working closely with the Board and everyone involved in the game to take football to new levels,” he said.
Mr Cavallucci will officially take up his position on Monday, 25 November 2019.
