It’s rebel Female Football week, and what better way to celebrate than by watching four of the top five teams in the league going toe-to-toe in Round 4 of the NPL Women’s competition.
In addition to two hotly-contended clashes, there will be not one but two Feature Matches streamed on FQ’s Facebook page as we continue the celebrations that have taken place throughout the week.
All Round 4 matches this weekend will be available to watch live and on demand on the FQ YouTube channel.
Feature Match 1: Logan Lightning v Lions FC
Logan Lightning’s Natalia Pinkney will be out to extend her scoring streak to four games when the current league leaders host Lions FC in a Round 4 Feature Match on Saturday night.
Boasting six goals already in 2020, Pinkney is the second top scorer in the league and has helped her side to 21 goals in their opening three matches.
Logan remain the only side to have recorded a 100% win record three games into the season, with a number of teams biting at their heels on seven points below, including this weekend’s opponents Lions FC.
Lions meanwhile are still unbeaten and come into this match off the back of an impressive 2-1 win against a dangerous Capalaba FC side – their first win of the season excluding a Round 1 forfeit by their opponents.
Their determination to secure the win in a hard-fought battle last round saw a number of players shine, as Meisha Westland and Leah Davidson earned a spot in Team of the Week, while Cannon Clough looked impressive in the match as she recorded her first goal of the season.
The ever-reliable Tegan Riding has two goals to her name coming into Round 4, but will be looking to build on this and is capable of being the difference between a win and a loss come this weekend’s clash against the firing Logan side.
While Logan Lightning look destined to challenge for the title in 2020, this weekend’s blockbuster clash will be a true test of their ability to do so as they welcome the 2019 Premiers.

Feature Match 2: Gold Coast United v Capalaba FC
In what is set to be an intriguing match-up, Gold Coast United will host Capalaba FC in the second Feature Match this weekend.
After three rounds of competition, Gold Coast United have found themselves in second on the ladder, one of three teams on seven points going into Round 4 of the NPL Women’s having recorded two wins and a draw so far in 2020.
The Gold Coast side will no doubt bring some momentum into this match off the back of two consecutive wins, having scored 14 goals and conceded only one in their last two outings.
Charlotte Farmer’s impact in last round’s victory earned her a Team of the Week selection, and she is set to link up with other in-form players this weekend in the form of new signings Kristen McGilvray and Isabella Habuda as United look to extend their winning streak.
Capalaba FC meanwhile will look to change their fortunes against Gold Coast United in the 2020 season having fallen to two defeats at the hands of their Round 4 opponents in closely-contested matches last season.
The visitors dropped their first points of their 2020 campaign last round, going down to a 2-1 loss against 2019 Premiers Lions FC in a fiercely competitive but thrilling match.
Off the back of a number of good signings, including the acquisition of new coach Skie Hanifin, Capalaba have looked good so far this season and boast the equal best defensive record in the league, having conceded only three goals.
Gold Coast United look to be the biggest challenge this side has faced so far in 2020, so it will be fascinating to see who can come out on top to claim the three points.

Key Players for Round 4:
Laini Freier (The Gap): Averaging three goals per game and scoring at least two goals in each of her three matches so far, Freier has been in unstoppable form. With The Gap heavy favourites going into their tie with Moreton Bay United, she could add more.
Megan Price (Lions FC): After featuring in the Team of the Week for Round 2, Price impressed again in Round 3 and will look to carry that momentum into Lions’ massive game against Logan Lightning this weekend.
Emily Dunn (Logan Lightning): Securing a hat-trick in Round 1 and producing another stellar performance last weekend which earned her a place in the Team of the Week, Dunn could be instrumental if Lightning are to topple Lions in their Round 4 encounter.
