Football Queensland (FQ) confirms the re-election of Ben Richardson and welcomes Paula Robinson to the FQ Board of Directors following the 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Meakin Park on Saturday, 25 July.
Richardson said he was delighted with the outcome and highlighted the significance of Robinson’s election to the FQ Board of Directors.
“I personally want to thank the members of Football Queensland for their overwhelming support. I am honoured to serve the football community in Queensland in the role of President in this exciting time for our game,” Richardson said.
“I applaud our members for supporting Paula with her nomination, recognising the value she will bring to our game as we continue to evolve and embrace the contribution of women and girls and move forward to realise our vision of uniting the game.
“Saturday was a productive day as FQ welcomed FFA CEO James Johnson to present the XI Principles document in a fantastic session with Zone Members, before an independently-run consultation session reviewing the governance and administration layers of the game was held as part of the Future of Football 2020+.
“The discussions that took place give me great confidence in the future direction of our game as together we embark on a journey to grow and strengthen football both in Queensland and in Australia.”
The newly-elected Paula Robinson joins two outstanding female board members Jackie Knight and Amy Chapman, bringing FQ into line with the 40/40/20 Gender Equity Principle outlined in the Football Federation Australia (FFA) Constitution.
A highly credentialed and award-winning lawyer with over a decade of legal experience, Robinson is currently an Executive Director of boutique legal and corporate services firm Ailier Pty Ltd and the Vice President of Tennis Queensland.
Robinson also lectures in Sports Law as an Assistant Professor at Bond University and boasts over 13 years’ experience in executive management, marketing and business development.
“I’m delighted to be elected to the Football Queensland Board of Directors and look forward to joining an organisation that is committed to growing football across the state, and providing opportunities for everyone to be part of the game,” Robinson said.
Robinson joins the re-elected Richardson on the FQ Board of Directors alongside Glenn Smith, Tony Davis, Jon McKain, Jackie Knight and Amy Chapman.
