320 players from around Queensland will meet at Meakin Park this weekend for the Under 9 Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) Boys State Carnival.
The two-day carnival will be held on Saturday, 10 October and Sunday, 11 October and will welcome SAP teams from South West and South East Queensland, Central Queensland, North and Far North Queensland, Mackay and Wide Bay.
Two sessions will be held on each day (morning session and afternoon session) to limit the number of players and spectators on-site at one time as part of a number of COVID Safe measures implemented by Football Queensland (FQ).
“This weekend’s Under 9 SAP Boys Carnival is set to be a fantastic celebration of talent as young players from around Queensland meet at FQ headquarters at Meakin Park,” State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“Carnivals like this one provide positive development opportunities for players in the Under 9 age group who are at the start of their SAP journey, while also giving them exposure to players from other teams and regions.
“As well as the development benefits, SAP carnivals are also a great social experience for the young footballers who can meet like-minded players from around the state.
“Talent Support Program coaches and Football Queensland’s regional Technical Development Managers will be in attendance at this weekend’s Under 9 SAP Boys State Carnival, while QAS and Brisbane Roar Academy players will referee matches across the two days.
“We look forward to welcoming teams from each SAP regional centre to Meakin Park for the event, and we want to say a big thank you especially to those from Mackay, Wide Bay, Central Queensland and North and Far North Queensland for travelling down to participate.
“All the best to the participating players, coaches, referees and families for this weekend’s SAP carnival.”
To ensure the safety of all those in attendance, a number of COVID Safe measures will be in place at the venue including temperature checks on arrival, QR code attendance tracking measures, regular cleaning of facilities and equipment and social distancing requirements.
