Football Queensland (FQ)’s commitment to improving coach development opportunities continues as the futsal season kicks off, with FQ delivering two coaching courses at Ipswich Futsal in recent weeks.
One of the best indoor venues in the region, Ipswich Futsal played host to FQ’s Futsal Coaching Certificate on September 26 and a Futsal Coaching Licence course on October 2 and 3.
“With the South East Queensland Futsal Premier League season just weeks away, Ipswich Futsal were looking to improve the quality and standard of coaching across their club with a Futsal Coaching Licence course,” FQ Futsal Administrator Trevor Edwards said.
“The course participants threw themselves into the development and practical learning opportunity, and local players also took advantage of the opportunity to be involved as participants for the coach assessment and training exercises.
“Football Queensland also delivered a Futsal Coaching Certificate course at the venue to introduce new coaches to the game as we work towards the key target of 250 registered futsal coaches by 2022, as outlined in the recently released Futsal Strategy.
“I was very impressed with the attitude and passion of the participants in attendance across the two courses. There is so much opportunity for us to grow futsal here in Queensland, and coach education is such an important part of that development.
“Football Queensland has identified that the growth of the game is underpinned by the quality and number of coaches and referees, and we’re hopeful that an ongoing focus on coach education and development will help to increase futsal coaching numbers across Queensland in the months and years to come.
“By improving the standards of coaching in futsal, we are also helping to grow and strengthen our clubs as more quality coaches join the game.
“Whether you’re an outdoor coach and new to the game of futsal, or even if you’ve already completed your Futsal Coaching Certificate, we encourage you to get involved in an upcoming futsal coaching course.
“Keep an eye out for a range of development opportunities as Football Queensland continues to deliver Futsal Coaching Certificate and Futsal Coaching Licence courses for the remainder of the year.”
Ipswich Futsal coach Connor George was thrilled with the opportunity for the club to contribute to the development of futsal coaches in the region.
“It was fantastic to host Football Queensland’s Futsal Coaching Certificate and Futsal Coaching Licence courses here at Ipswich Futsal,” George said.
“The Futsal Coaching Certificate offered an introductory course for Queensland coaches just starting out in futsal, while the Futsal Coaching Licence course provided a valuable development opportunity for our Ipswich Futsal coaches who all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
