Football Queensland (FQ) has today provided updated guidance for futsal clubs and participants in the Greater Brisbane region in relation to the State Government’s restrictions on indoor events.
Following consultation with Queensland Sport and Recreation, FQ can confirm that players may choose not to wear a mask while physically involved in games on the court.
However, in line with Queensland Health’s Easing of Restrictions for Greater Brisbane, players and all other individuals inside the venue must wear a mask at all other times, including while stretching before games or while watching from the bench.
If you are having difficulty breathing while wearing a mask, including after strenuous physical exercise, you are permitted to remove the mask.
Individuals who remove their mask for exercise must resume wearing the mask as soon as practicable after the activity ends.
Masks are not required during team sports in outdoor environments, such as during football training or trials.
These restrictions for Greater Brisbane are due to remain in place until 1:00am on Friday, 22 January 2021.
For reference, the Greater Brisbane region is defined as spanning the Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands and Logan local government areas.
