Football Queensland will host a Girls United Carnival at Boyne Tannum FC in October following the success of the inaugural event delivered in 2021.
The three-day carnival will be held from Friday, 14 October to Sunday, 16 October and will welcome women and girls from Under 9/10 age groups to Open Women and Over 35s.
“We’re delighted to bring the Girls United Carnival back to the Central Coast region after a fantastic inaugural event held in 2021 with over 100 female participants, and would like to thank Boyne Tannum FC for hosting once again this year,” FQ General Manager – Central Coast Region Andy Allan said.
“As we prepare to welcome the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ to our shores, Football Queensland is committed to providing more opportunities for women and girls to get involved in our game by delivering more flexible and inclusive participation opportunities.
“The Girls United Carnival is a wonderful example of this as it provides a relaxed, social atmosphere for female participants to get involved and have fun, no matter their skill level or previous experience in the game.”
“This year it has been great to see the success of the Girls United social football program launched in Rockhampton, and the new women’s 7-a-side social competition which includes 80 players across eight teams,” FQ Manager – Central Coast Rebecca Toohey said.
“In addition to these two new initiatives within the region, the upcoming Girls United Carnival offers another alternative to 11-a-side football for women and girls, making our game even more accessible for participants of all experience levels.”
