Football Queensland has recently announced the Boys and Girls state team squads for the 2024 National Youth Championships (NYC), with the FQ Academy Northern Conference program emerging as a remarkable talent hub. 45 players from this regions FQ Academy talent ID and pathway were recognised among Queensland’s most promising young footballers, highlighting the FQ Academy program’s impact on the development of youth football in regional Queensland.
In the Under 15 and Under 16 Boys and Girls squads, 22 players from across FQ Academy programs in Far North & Gulf, Northern and Whitsunday Coast have earned their places to represent Queensland on the national stage. Additionally, 23 players have been selected as shadow players, underscoring the program’s success in nurturing and identifying talent. This recognition is a testament to the success of the FQ Academy’s regional programs in providing a clear pathway for young footballers to state and national teams.
FQ’s ‘One Queensland’ approach to squad selection has ensured that the best players from fully integrated FQ Academy programs across the state have been identified. The players selected in these squads will go on to showcase their skills against the best young players from across the country that they wouldn’t usually get to play against within their own region, presenting a valuable development and talent identification opportunity for them.
The National Youth Championships (NYC) marks an important milestone for our state’s young players as they progress on Football Australia’s nationally recognised development pathway from the FQ Academy and seek selection in Australia’s national teams.
The NYC for Girls will kick off from Wednesday, 3 July to Monday, 8 July 2024 at the Home of the Matildas in Melbourne, while the boys will get underway from Tuesday, 16 July to Sunday, 21 July 2024 in Wollongong, NSW.
On behalf of everyone at Football Queensland, we’d like to congratulate each of the young players selected from regional Queensland. Their hard work, dedication and talent have earned them this incredible opportunity to represent their state on the national stage. We look forward to watching them shine at the 2024 National Youth Championships.
