With the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ less than 80 days away, Football Queensland (FQ) is excited to welcome the 2023 Female Football Week, a nationwide initiative to celebrate the women’s game.
Female Football Week will run from Friday, 19 May to Sunday, 28 May, signalling a significant year ahead in women’s football as the biggest global women’s sporting event comes to Australia, and acknowledging the contributions of women and girls across the football community.
In the lead up to this week of celebration, FQ’s Women’s Football Round will kick off the weekend of Friday, 12 May, coinciding with Mother’s Day and delivering memorable moments across the state.
Clubs are encouraged to get involved in Female Football Week by running their own activations and events such as club barbeques, mentor programs, come and try days and more.
To shine a spotlight and recognise the outstanding achievements and efforts of individuals and clubs across the state, Football Queensland is calling for nominations for the 2023 Female Football Week awards, with nominations closing at 5pm on Wednesday, 10 May.
Football Australia will also deliver tailored nationwide Female Football Week webinars for referees and coaches, designed to further equip members of the community with skills to progress within the game; find out more here.
