Football Queensland has recorded another bumper year of coach education in 2023, delivering 223 courses to over 2,800 attendees across the state.
12 coach education sessions were also delivered as Football Queensland hosted tailored webinars, workshops and shared best practice seminars for coaches across the state to gain additional insight into a range of key areas.
“Football Queensland was proud to strengthen education opportunities for coaches from the community to advanced level across the state in 2023,” FQ Club Development Ambassador – Head of Coaching Davide Bertamini said.
“Throughout Queensland, we delivered 205 community courses and 18 advanced courses this year, including, for the second consecutive year, a female-only C Diploma which kicked off in November at FQ’s Meakin Park headquarters.
“In line with Football Queensland’s ambition of reaching 50/50 gender parity in participation by 2027, we’re focused on providing more opportunities for new female coaches to join our game and for aspiring female coaches to advance on the coaching pathway.
“This commitment has already resulted in a 28% increase in female coaches in 2023, and an overall increase in coaching participation numbers across the state as we continue working towards Football Queensland’s strategic target of 9,400 registered coaches by 2026.
“2024 is set to be another exciting year for coach education as Football Australia introduces a new structure to standardise coach education courses in line with AFC and UEFA conventions.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, thank you to each of our coaches and clubs for a fantastic 2023, and we look forward to working with you again in the new year as we kick off with the delivery of C Diploma courses and an A Diploma in Brisbane.”
As part of Football Australia’s new coach education structure, the Foundation of Football course will be introduced to equip coaches with the essential skills to create a safe and positive learning environment for players.
The previous C Diploma will be divided into two parts, the Foundation of Football and the C Diploma Part 2. Click here for further information on the new course structure.
Football Australia will also be implementing a new learning management system and a central location for ongoing coach and referee education and course development in 2024.
The new platform will be the home of online learning and course registration for coach and referee education moving forward, with a full collection of online coach and referee education courses to be launched by Football Australia in 2024.
