Football Queensland (FQ) celebrates a significant milestone in regional football development, as for the first time since its establishment, four regional clubs have successfully completed the Tier 2 Club Development Assessment.
The clubs that have successfully completed the assessment are Southside Comets from Cairns (Far North & Gulf region), and MA Olympic, Brothers Townsville, and Riverway JCU who are all based in Townsville (Northern region). This achievement not only highlights their dedication to player development, and growing and investing in the game, but also opens up greater opportunities for these clubs to be invited to some Football Queensland events and competitions in the coming year.
“We are excited to see an increasing number of regional clubs engaging with the FQ Academy Tier 2 assessment process, as this reflects the effectiveness of our technical strategy and highlights the strong commitment these clubs have to investing in the development of their players and coaches,” FQ General Manager – Football & State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“By successfully completing the Tier 2 club development assessment, each of these regional clubs demonstrates their commitment to investing in their coaches, players, and facilities. By prioritising comprehensive development programs and cultivating a competitive environment, they are not only setting a benchmark for excellence but also playing a crucial role in the broader advancement of football throughout Queensland.
“Football Queensland acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of these four clubs, as their success signifies not only individual excellence but also a growing commitment to regional football development; with more clubs investing in the game and reaching similar milestones, we can anticipate even more exciting improvements in the quality of play across our regional football communities.
“The Tier 2 assessment process evaluates a club’s technical performance in planning, delivery, and outcomes, promoting accountability and transparency, while recognising clubs for their dedication to improving the development of both players and coaches, essential for fostering a competitive environment.
“Football Queensland’s commitment to enhancing quality assurance across all clubs and regions, combined with the increasing engagement of clubs in the development assessment process, is pivotal in driving FQ’s strategic objectives aimed at fostering broader development of the game statewide.”
Launched in 2020, the Club Development Assessment process serves as Football Queensland’s benchmark evaluation system towards continuous improvement, aimed at guiding clubs in enhancing their commitment to technical growth.
The club development process also supports coaches and players through licensed courses, workshops and webinars, while selected talented players have the opportunity to be part of the FQ Academy regional and state team programs.
