Round 11 will see five National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW) Queensland games played out on Saturday including the Match of the Round between Capalaba FC and Moreton Bay United.
The NPLW Match of the Round can be viewed live and on demand on the FQ website, FQ Facebook and FQ YouTube channel.
It will be 3 v 2 at John Fredericks Park with not only valuable points up for grabs, but also top spot potentially at stake as Lions FC have the bye this week and just one point separates Moreton Bay and the ladder leaders.
Capalaba come into the match off the back of a 4-1 loss to seventh placed Gold Coast United which put a dent in their hopes of being on top of the table.
Meanwhile, Moreton Bay are coming into the game after their bye but they beat The Gap 3-2 in Round 9.
The last meeting between the two teams was in Round 15 last season with Moreton Bay coming away with a 4-1 win at Wolter Park.
MATCH DETAILS
Capalaba FC v Moreton Bay United
Saturday, 27 April, 5pm
John Fredericks Park, Capalaba
Other key matches:
Souths United v Sunshine Coast Wanderers
After their second win in a row, Souths will be searching for their third at home against the 12th placed Wanderers on Sunday. A win will keep Souths within reach of Logan Lightning who sit two points ahead in fourth.
Gold Coast United v Western Pride
Don’t let their spot on the later deceive the efforts of Gold Coast this season. They have only lost two games so far in 2019 and are just three points behind Logan Lightning with a superior goal difference. They come up against Western Pride who are searching for their first win since Round 3.
Players to watch:
Natalia Pinkney (Logan Lightning): The American took home the match ball and a spot in the Round 10 Team of the Week after scoring a hat-trick against Western Pride on Monday. She made no mistake in front of goal and her speed was not easy to match, so she will be looking to keep this going against Mitchelton.
Chloe Cole (Souths United): The goalkeeper kept her third clean sheet of the season, this time against the 2018 NPLW Champions Brisbane Roar/QAS and saved a penalty as well.
Vedrana Popovic (Eastern Suburbs): The former Brisbane Roar W-League defender made the switch to the attacking role with Easts and scored a double against SWQ Thunder.
