Welcome to Winterfest24
On behalf of Football Queensland, I would like to welcome you to the 2024 WinterFest Carnival, the state’s largest junior football carnival to be held on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council and Visit Sunshine Coast.
Returning to Maroochydore FC for five days of high-quality and exciting matches, WinterFest24 promises to be an unforgettable celebration of junior football excellence where our promising young FQ Academy talent will gather, ready to showcase their skills and compete against peers representing every region of our state.
Football Queensland is dedicated to fostering talent through the FQ Academy system, and WinterFest24 serves as an invaluable platform for players to receive real-time feedback as coaching and technical staff monitor their progress as the event forms part of the FQ Academy Talent ID and player development system.
As we strive to enhance player outcomes and strengthen our pathways through the implementation of best practice technical methods, we’re thrilled to welcome over 2,000 participants back to Maroochydore, where the stunning backdrop of the Sunshine Coast will only bring additional excitement to the event.
Football Queensland would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Council and Visit Sunshine Coast for their ongoing support of our state’s up-and-coming stars by helping to create a memorable carnival for all involved.
I’d also like to wish our participants, coaches, referees and families attending the carnival all the best, and I hope they enjoy the event, and all the Sunshine Coast has to offer.

Mayoral Welcome
Greetings to all the young athletes, coaches and families joining us from near and far for WinterFest at Maroochydore Football Club.
We’re thrilled to welcome you here.
Hosting Queensland’s largest junior football carnival strengthens the Sunshine Coast’s position as the home of junior football in the State.
This event is not just a celebration of football; it’s a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of sports stars.
It is also a steppingstone towards our exciting future, with the Sunshine Coast expected to host preliminary football matches at Sunshine Coast Stadium as a Co-Host City for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Our Sunshine Coast Biosphere offers a backdrop of stunning natural beauty, from our beaches to our hinterland. So, while you are here, I encourage you to take in some of our natural wonders and have some fun at our local attractions – there is something here for everyone!
On behalf of our Sunshine Coast Council, I extend my heartfelt wishes for success to all the young athletes.
Best of luck to you all – may your time here be filled with memorable moments both on, and off, the field.
