The NPLW gets back under way this weekend with matches split evenly across the two days. All the top four are facing potential banana skins this week which could give some of the teams below them a sniff of a Finals spot.
SWQ Thunder v Logan Lightning
Clive Berghofer Stadium
Saturday, 16 June, 2:15pm
Thunder and Lightning
The Thunder welcome the Lightning out to Toowoomba on Saturday afternoon hoping to snap their six game losing streak.
Last time the two teams met the Lightning came out on top, winning 4-1 at Cornubia Park but the visitors haven’t had things all their own way in recent weeks, losing three on the bounce after an impressive 4-2 defeat of Mitchelton in Round 13.
Eastern Suburbs v Sunshine Coast Wanderers
Heath Park
Saturday, 16 June, 5:30pm
Easts host Wanderers
Eastern Suburbs will be hoping for a win to close the gap on the teams above them when they host a Wanderers team that have lost their last five.
The Wanderers will be playing two games in two days after their re-arranged clash with Lions last weekend was re-arranged again for this Thursday, so will have little time to recover before taking on an Easts side that are unbeaten in their last three.
The last time these two sides met Easts won a tight one 3-2 so expect plenty of action again on Saturday afternoon at Heath Park.
Lions FC v Mitchelton FC
Lions Stadium
Saturday, 16 June, 5:30pm
Mitchie travel into the Lions’ den
Lions will welcome a Mitchelton side coming off a last time out defeat against Eastern Suburbs to Richlands on Saturday evening.
The Mustangs secured a 1-1 draw against Lions at Teralba Park earlier on in the season but their hosts tonight have won all but one of their 11 games since then to rocket up to second on the ladder.
Lions will be travelling to Buderim on Thursday night though, so might be slightly fatigued on a two day turn around.
The Gap FC v Western Pride
Walton Bridge Reserve
Saturday, 16 June, 5:30pm
The Gap take on Western Pride
The Gap have won their last four matches, scoring 33 goals in the process and will host a Pride side they put five past last time out.
Western Pride were narrowly defeated by the Roar/NTC last week but had won their two matches prior to that defeat by a combined score of 13-3 so could prove troublesome to a Gap team that lie six points off top spot – albeit with a game in hand.
Mudgeeraba SC v Capalaba Bulldogs
Sid Bigg Park
Sunday, 17 June, 3:00pm
Bulldogs hope for a repeat dose against Mudgeeraba
Mudgeeraba have lost their last six matches in the league and are sitting precariously just four points above the bottom placed Thunder as they host Capalaba at Sid Bigg Park on Sunday.
Capalaba won the reverse fixture 4-0 but have been inconsistent of late, winning two of their last three matches – one of those being that 4-0 win over their hosts on Sunday.
Brisbane Roar/NTC v Souths United
Wakerley Park Synthetic
Sunday, 17 June, 4:00pm
A home away from home for Souths
The Roar are sitting just outside the finals spots in fifth, five points behind Moreton Bay with a game in hand and will host league leaders Souths at their own ground this Sunday evening.
Souths won the reverse game at the same venue 4-1 and are on an 11 game winning streak heading into this clash.
The Roar have only played three times since the end of April but have won all three of those matches and are unbeaten in four.
Moreton Bay United v Gold Coast United
Wolter Park
Sunday, 17 June, 5:00pm
Jets welcome United
Moreton Bay have won eight of their last nine matches – only tasting defeat against league leaders Souths back in Round 14, and will welcome a Gold Coast side who haven’t tasted victory in three matches to Wolter Park on Sunday.
The reverse fixture at Station Reserve was postponed due to wet weather so these teams are unknown to each other, although the hosts will hope for a win to consolidate their position in the top four.
