Both the NPL and the NPLW Premierships can be decided this round, with Lions FC (NPL) and The Gap FC (NPLW) poised to take out their respective competitions.
NPL
As it stands:
Lions need just a single point on Saturday night against Brisbane Roar Youth to claim the NPL Queensland Premiership.
It also means if Western Pride fail lose their match against Redlands, Lions FC will be crowned Premiers – no matter what the result is at Lions Stadium.
For Western Pride FC to win the Premiership, they must win their remaining two games and hope Lions FC lose their final two matches.
This is an unlikely scenario, given the last time Lions FC tasted defeat was back in mid-May, a narrow 1-0 loss to Brisbane City FC.
NPLW
As it stands:
A win for the Gap Football Club against Moreton Bay United this Saturday night gives them the Premiership.
A point will also all but guarantee them the crown, unless:
- BRFC/NTC win their remaining three matches, the Gap lose their last two games, with a goal difference of 66 overturned in the process. Result – BRFC/NTC are Premiers.OR
- If the Gap lose their final three matches, Lions FC win their final two matches and BRFC/NTC fail to take maximum points from their final three games. Lions would also need to overturn a goal difference of 51 in the process. Result – Lions FC are Premiers.
The last time the Gap lost was in April, in a thrilling 3-2 defeat to Moreton Bay United. Since that day, the Gators have incredibly only conceded two goals.
