Feature Match: Gold Coast United v Lions FC
In a top of the table showdown, second-placed Gold Coast United will welcome ladder leaders Lions FC for what is set to be a nail-biting Round 5 clash.
Just three points separate the sides, who have both had near-perfect 2020 seasons and remain undefeated having only recorded one draw each this year.
Hosts Gold Coast United will be carrying plenty of momentum into the encounter, currently on a six-game winning streak with one game in hand.
Three of these victories have come since the season resumption, including last round’s strong 5-1 win over SWQ Thunder thanks to doubles from Isabella Habuda and Danielle Wise on debut for the side.
The duo will need to be firing on all cylinders against Lions FC, and could make the difference for their side again this weekend in one of the most high stakes battles they’ll face this season.
The reigning Premiers will travel down the M1 this weekend on a winning run of their own, having recorded six consecutive wins since their Round 2 draw with Gap FC, including last round’s 4-2 win over Eastern Suburbs.
Boasting the strongest attack in the league, Lions have scored an impressive 22 goals in just four matches since the season’s recommencement, and conceded only three.
Considering the calibre of these two sides, this weekend’s NPL Women’s Feature Match is set to be a must-watch. This match-up could easily go down to the wire, with both Gold Coast United and Lions FC in red-hot form and demonstrating plenty of desire to secure top spot.

Other Key Matches:
Capalaba FC v Eastern Suburbs
In what is set to be another closely fought battle this weekend, Capalaba FC will welcome Eastern Suburbs in Round 5 of the NPL Women’s.
Both sides have recorded mixed results since the resumption of the season, but Capalaba’s form has been the stronger one with two wins and one loss in their last three matches.
The hosts will come into the clash off the back of a bye last round, but secured two dominant victories in recent weeks with a 9-2 win over Moreton Bay United in Round 19 and a 7-2 victory against Mitchelton FC in Round 21. These big wins were offset by a close 1-0 loss to Souths United in Round 20 earlier this month.
Eastern Suburbs meanwhile have recorded two draws, one win and one loss since the season resumed, with their sole win coming in Round 20 against Gap FC.
Last week Easts fell to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of ladder leaders Lions, and will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend as they come up against Capalaba.

Mitchelton FC v Souths United
Mitchelton FC will host Souths United in a Round 5 NPL Women’s clash this weekend, with both teams needing a win to keep their season on track.
The home side are yet to record a win since the resumption of the season, with their only win of 2020 coming in Round 4 against SWQ Thunder.
Last week Mitchelton fell to a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat at the hands of Gap FC. After leading 3-0 at the break, the side was stunned by a Gap FC comeback as they scored four goals in the second half to snatch the three points from Mitchelton.
After last week’s narrow loss, the hosts will no doubt come into this weekend’s clash carrying plenty of extra motivation as they face a Souths United side fresh off the back of a win.
Souths’ 4-1 defeat of Moreton Bay United last round was their second win since the season’s recommencement, after they also secured the three points in a 1-0 victory against Capalaba FC in Round 20.
