Football Queensland (FQ) has today confirmed it has received 15 applications properly made to join the Football Queensland Premier League 2 (FQPL 2) competition which will commence in 2021.
Drawing Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from 29 clubs from across South East Queensland, ultimately 15 clubs have now submitted formal applications within the prescribed time period that address the required criteria.
“The overwhelming level of interest in an FQPL 2 competition clearly demonstrates the demand for a connected football pyramid with clear pathways for aspirational clubs in Queensland, through the introduction of promotion and relegation between leagues which will be implemented from 2021,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“The FQPL 2 will act as a bridge between local premier men’s competitions and a reformed NPL Queensland and FQPL structure in a crucial first step towards connecting the football pyramid across the state.”
The clubs who have submitted FQPL 2 applications are:
- Bayside United
- Brisbane Knights FC
- Caboolture Sports FC
- Centenary Stormers
