How Young Player of the Year nominees and award winners are determined
The Young Player of the Year award is awarded to the player aged 21 or younger (at the conclusion of the regular season) who polls the highest number of votes in the Player of the Year voting.
As per the 2020 Competition Regulations, the Player of the Year award is determined based on a combination of referee 3-2-1 votes, Team of the Season votes, plus any other reasonable justification as determined by Football Queensland, such as disciplinary record or overall team performance.
Players are ineligible to win any individual awards if they are suspended as a result of receiving a direct red card in a match or as a result of a Disciplinary Committee Hearing or Match Review Panel decision.
Players are also ineligible to win if they have played in fewer than 10 First Team matches at the conclusion of the regular season.
