In a boost for the development of regional and metro footballers, Football Queensland (FQ) will host a five-day Talent Support Program (TSP) State Carnival next week from Monday, 28 June to Friday, 2 July at Meakin Park.  

More than 500 boys and girls aged 13 to 16 from Far North, North, Mackay, Central Queensland, Wide Bay and South West regions have been invited to play in a series of matches against their peers from other parts of the state. 

Teams from Brisbane Roar Acadamy Boys and QAS Girls will also be participating, alongside Select U13/U14 and U15/U16 teams from the NPL Queensland Women’s competition. 

“We are excited to welcome some of the most talented players from across the state, in what will be a fantastic opportunity for them to create lifelong memories both on and off the pitch,” FQ State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said. 

“The TSP State Carnival is one of many valuable experiences for young players as they progress on the talented player pathway, allowing them to test their skills as regional programs meet SEQ Metro sides. 

“State events like this also provide opportunities for talent identification, with games to be recorded and uploaded to an online video platform for Football Australia Junior National Team coaching staff to access. 

“Off the pitch, the players will benefit from a number of sessions on sports psychology, high performance, wellbeing and Football Australia pathways. 

“On behalf of Football Queensland, I wish all participants a great week ahead and I look forward to observing the performance of some future Matildas and Socceroos here at Meakin Park.”
