Football Queensland has confirmed the Provisional Declaration of Leagues for the 2026 season, encompassing FQ’s Advanced and Metro Men leagues.
The Provisional Declaration of Leagues includes the proposed composition of men’s leagues across the NPL Queensland, FQPL 1 and 2, and FQPL Metro competitions, constructed in accordance with and determined by the rules of competition and sporting merit.
“Our connected competitions across the three conferences continue to provide real benefits for players, teams, and clubs throughout Queensland’s football pyramid,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“The 2025 season showcased high-quality competition in our state’s premier leagues. It culminated in an exciting NPL and FQPL 1 Grand Final day back at Perry Park, football’s spiritual home. Meanwhile, the FQPL Metro competitions offered plenty of thrilling moments and kept fans engaged all year.
“Our competition framework remains strong and stable. It gives clubs a clear pathway within the pyramid while allowing movement based on performance and compliance. This balance ensures a solid structure while letting teams grow and succeed on merit.
“As we look to 2026, the release of the Provisional Declaration of Leagues will show the results of the 2025 season, whilst also accounting for team movements, mergers, and withdrawals across the men’s connected football pyramid.”
Clubs are now completing the affiliation and licensing process to meet all required criteria. This ensures they are eligible for their assigned league and ready for the upcoming season.
A club’s appearance in the ‘Provisional Declaration of Leagues’ is not confirmation of inclusion in the ‘Final Declaration of Leagues’. A club’s participation in the NPL and FQPL leagues for the 2026 season is contingent upon final league design, affiliation confirmation, approval and compliance with a variety of conditions (mandatory or otherwise) contained within various participation licence agreements. No league participation is guaranteed to any club in any league until the Final Declaration of Leagues is issued by FQ.
