FQPL Round 20 Preview: Can Rochedale hold onto fourth place?

July 6, 2018

Stakes are high for Rochedale Rovers this weekend, with Sunshine Coast Wanderers and Souths United hot on their tail and chasing a top four spot in Round 20 of the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL).

Wide Bay Buccaneers v Peninsula Power
Martens Oval Field 1
Saturday, 7 July, 5:00pm

Peninsula Power look to continue unbeaten streak

It’s top versus bottom on Saturday evening as Wide Bay Buccaneers host Peninsula Power at Martens Oval.

Peninsula Power remain undefeated this season and will go into the Round 20 game with extra confidence after a mid-week victory against Southside Eagles.

Wide Bay Buccaneers are still yet to win a game in 2018 and remain at the bottom of the table after 19 rounds.

Southside Eagles v Mitchelton FC
Perry Park 1
Saturday, 7 July, 6:00pm

Short turnaround for Eagles

Mitchelton will hope to continue the form that saw them defeat Rochedale last weekend as they take on Southside Eagles on Saturday night.

Southside Eagles will only have a short turnaround from their mid-week defeat to Peninsula Power, but will be looking for first win since Round 16.

Holland Park Hawks FC v Sunshine Coast Wanderers
Whites Hill Reserve 2
Saturday, 7 July, 6:00pm

Sunshine Coast eye top four spot

Sunshine Coast Wanderers will be hungry for three points as they take on Holland Park Hawks on Saturday night.

A win this weekend for Sunshine Coast could see them jump into the top four, while Holland Park will remain in ninth spot at best even if they can secure the win.

Rochedale Rovers v Eastern Suburbs FC
Underwood Park Field 1
Saturday, 7 July, 6:15pm

High stakes for Rochedale

It’s a must-win this weekend for Rochedale Rovers as they take on Eastern Suburbs at Underwood Park on Saturday night.

With Sunshine Coast and Souths on their tail, Rochedale are at risk of dropping out of the top four, but will have to work for the three points against third placed Easts.

If the home side can secure the win, they’ll claim third spot going into Round 21.

Important three points at stake for Souths

With a top four spot within arm’s reach, Souths United will be keen to secure a win against Capalaba Bulldogs on Saturday night.

Three points for the home side could see them jump into the top four depending on the rest of the weekend’s results.

Ipswich Knights v Logan Lightning
Eric Evans Oval 1
Sunday, 8 July, 3:00pm

Ipswich host Logan

Logan Lightning will look to continue their winning streak as they take on Ipswich Knights on Sunday afternoon.

Having won their last six, Logan are sitting comfortably in second spot while Knights remain in 12th position after 19 rounds.
