Football Queensland (FQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Morrison as the Queensland women’s futsal coach for the upcoming Gold Coast Futsal International Challenge.
One of Queensland’s most experienced futsal coaches, Morrison has extensive experience in futsal, both as a player and a coach, and is currently the Sunshine Coast Futsal Association Director of Coaching.
Morrison will select a squad from the South East Queensland Futsal Premier League (SEQFPL) open women’s competition to represent Queensland at the tournament.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what Justin can achieve at this year’s inaugural Gold Coast Futsal International Challenge,” FQ Futsal Administrator Trevor Edwards said.
Morrison brings 18 years of futsal coaching experience to the role, previously coaching the FFA Queensland open women’s futsal team between 2010 and 2013 and South Brisbane FC Women in the National F-League from 2014 to 2016.
As a player, Morrison boasts 25 years of playing experience and represented the Indoor Soccer Australia (ISA) Queensland open men’s futsal team for over a decade at the ISA National Futsal Championships, as well as playing in the ISA National Futsal League.
Morrison has three Craig Foster Championships to his name as a player and four as a coach and said he was honoured to be selected for the role.
“It means a lot to be selected as the Queensland women’s futsal state team coach,” Morrison said.
“I’m a passionate Queenslander, both as a player and as a coach, so I’m very honoured..
“I’m looking forward to further developing the sport of futsal in Queensland, particularly for the women, at the upcoming Gold Coast Futsal International Challenge.”
The Gold Coast Futsal International Challenge will be held on the Gold Coast from 17 January to 20 January 2019 with the Queensland women’s state team announced later this month.
