Nominations are now open for the Westfield Local Heroes community recognition program which aims to acknowledge people who go above and beyond in their community.
Queenslanders can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone, and will then be voted for by their communities, with three finalists per Westfield centre in Queensland each awarded a $10,000 grant for their affiliated organisation to support their work and programs.
The work or activities of nominees must satisfy at least one of the attributes of social wellbeing and/or harmony, and benefit the local community across one or more of the three social values of Family, Youth Opportunity and Inclusion.
Westfield Local Hero nominees can be volunteers, members or employees of their affiliated organisation in any sector, including business, government, education, sports, welfare, community and not-for-profit.
Nominations will close Monday, 8 April, with all nominations then being assessed by selection panels to create a shortlist of six finalists per Westfield centre.
The community will then be invited to cast their votes from Tuesday, 30 July to Monday, 12 August.
The three Westfield Local Heroes per centre will be announced from Monday, 1 October onwards and winners will be awarded a $10,000 grant each to support their affiliated organisation’s work and programs to grow and thrive.
