Round 20 of the National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW) Queensland will feature two top six match-ups as The Gap take on Capalaba Bulldogs, and Moreton Bay United host Souths United in the Match of the Round.
The NPLW Match of the Round will be available live and on demand on the FQ website, FQ Facebook and FQ YouTube.
Souths will be looking to bounce back from a 4-0 loss to Gold Coast United but also haven’t won a game since Round 15 when they beat SWQ Thunder 8-2.
As for their opposition, Moreton Bay United have won their last four games including a 6-0 victory last weekend over Mitchelton and sit second on the table, behind an undefeated Lions FC.
The last time the two teams played each other was in Round 7 when Moreton Bay came away with a 3-1 win.
The competition’s current Golden Boot leader Rylee Baisden, who plays for Moreton Bay, will be looking to add to her tally of 25 goals in 18 matches.
MATCH DETAILS
Moreton Bay United v Souths United
Sunday, 14 July, 5:00pm
Wolter Park
Other games to watch:
The Gap v Capalaba FC
This is set to be a tantalising clash at Walton Bridge Reserve. Both The Gap and Capalaba FC come into this game looking to extend their winning streaks; The Gap have recorded four wins in a row while the Bulldogs are undefeated in seven. Both teams currently sit in the top six but spots are far from decided so points are extremely valuable with only seven matches left of the regular season.
Eastern Suburbs v Logan Lightning
With both teams currently sitting just outside of the top six, this clash will be an important one for Logan Lightning who remain six points outside of finals contention as it stands. Having lost their last three, Logan will need to turn their form around if they are to claim the three points in this weekend’s match against Eastern Suburbs.
Players to watch:
Britt Hargreaves (Gold Coast United): The Gold Coast United keeper kept her second consecutive clean sheet and her fourth overall for the season in last week’s match.
Meaghan McElligott (Moreton Bay United): The 2019 Golden Boot recipient scored her fourth hat-trick of the season in Round 19 of the NPLW.
Mariel Hecher (Lions FC): The Lions skipper added to her goal-scoring tally this season with a hat-trick against Logan Lightning last round.
