The 2019 Welcome Sports Festival will be held this Sunday, 25 August at the Welcome Sports Clubhouse in Yeronga.
The Welcome Sports Festival is a free, family friendly event that will feature a number of ‘come and try’ sports activities with local sporting codes, and the opportunity to experience diverse cultural music, food and activities for families and young people.
Sports activities to try at this Sunday’s event will include football, AFL, tennis, cricket and touch rugby, while Brisbane Roar FC goalkeeper Jamie Young will also be in attendance as a guest speaker at the Welcome Sports Festival.
The Festival provides an opportunity for sporting clubs and codes to welcome and connect with Queensland’s diverse communities, including newly-arrived migrants and refugees, and will be held as part of Multicultural Queensland Month.
By connecting families and young Queenslanders with local sporting clubs and communities, including those who are new to Queensland, the Welcome Sports Festival offers opportunities for friendship, connection and wellbeing through sport and active recreation.
Free tickets for the festival are available here.
