Queensland’s best match officials have been recognised at the 2019 Queensland Referees Awards Night, held at the Royal on the Park last Sunday, 6 October.
A host of awards acknowledging referees from across the state were presented at the 2019 Awards Night.
The Mark Shield Medal was awarded to Casey Reibelt following a momentous year in which she was appointed to officiate at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France and made her Women’s World Cup refereeing debut in the Netherlands’ win over Cameroon in the group stages.
Westfield W-League referee Lara Lee, who was selected to join the FIFA Panel of International Referees for 2019 at the beginning of the year, was awarded the Pursuit of Excellence Referee Award at this year’s event in recognition of her outstanding performance both on and off the field.
The referees who officiated the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland, National Premier Leagues Women’s (NPLW) Queensland and Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) Grand Finals were also acknowledged, while a Senior Referee of the Year was awarded to match officials from Football Brisbane, Football Sunshine Coast, Football Gold Coast and Football South West Queensland, among other awards presented on the night.
Congratulations to all match officials who received awards.
