Football Queensland (FQ) is pleased to announce a partnership with Sport Australia to deliver Sporting Schools programs across the state in conjunction with Brisbane Roar FC.
Sporting Schools is Australia’s largest school-based sports participation program, providing an opportunity for children to get active and connect with community sporting opportunities.
FQ’s collaboration with Sport Australia and Brisbane Roar FC will expand the delivery of football and futsal programs across Queensland to ensure a consistent and quality experience for all participants.
FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said the governing body’s involvement in the delivery of the Sporting Schools program aligned with the strategic priorities outlined in the 2020-2022 Strategic Plan for football in Queensland.
“Football Queensland is excited to work with Brisbane Roar FC to deliver the Sporting Schools program across the state as we provide an introduction to football for young Queenslanders,” Cavallucci said.
“In our strategic plan we have outlined a focus on providing high-quality, accessible participation experiences to grow the game in an affordable, sustainable and enjoyable manner for current and prospective participants over the next three years.
“As we work towards the key target of 90,000 registered players by 2022, we look forward to showcasing our game to students across Queensland through the Sporting Schools program.”
Brisbane Roar FC CEO David Pourre said he welcomed the new partnership to further grow the Sporting Schools program in the state.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Football Queensland to deliver the Sporting Schools program,” Pourre said.
“Brisbane Roar FC has been the shining light across the delivery of Sporting Schools football programs in Australia and this partnership allows for further growth across Queensland. I’m confident that together we will deliver a program that encourages participation in football in a fun and active environment.”
Applications for Sporting Schools grants for Term 2, 2020 will open next Monday, 2 March and close on Friday, 13 March.
