Football Queensland (FQ) has today received confirmation that the COVID Safe Plan prepared for all clubs and zones has been approved by the Queensland Government.
“Today’s news is a fantastic boost for the entire Queensland football community after a tough few months due to COVID-19,” FQ Chief Executive Officer Robert Cavallucci said.
“The COVID Safe Plan was prepared by Football Queensland alongside other major sports, and its approval follows months of significant work with the Queensland Government and other sports in the state.
“The plan will come into effect from tomorrow, 5 June and will allow our football clubs and participants to return to training safely with more manageable restrictions than previously outlined in the Queensland Government’s roadmap to easing restrictions.
“The main change sits with the definition of Venue to Field which includes the ability for non-contact training to be held now with three groups of 20 on each field. Defined training areas for each group will enable participants to maintain social distancing at a venue.
“Football Queensland will continue to work with Government as we progress through Stage 2, so that planned restrictions in Stage 3 are as practical and manageable for Queensland clubs as possible.
“We’re extremely pleased with this outcome after working alongside the Queensland Government to ensure a safe return to training for all our clubs and participants across the state.
“We thank the football community for their patience as we worked towards this result, and look forward to seeing participants across Queensland back out on the field in the coming weeks.”
More information on the COVID Safe Plan and additional resources for clubs will be released in the coming days.
