Queensland State Team Head Coaches Alex Bundalo and Ben Cahn have strengthened their Kappa Festival of Football options with several squad additions ahead of the upcoming matches against Brisbane Roar and the New South Wales State Team.
Lions FC goalkeeper Isabella Shuttleworth has been added to the Queensland State Team Women’s squad after Logan Lightning’s Keeley Richards secured a Westfield W-League deal with Canberra United.
Abbey Lloyd (SWQ Thunder) and Natalie Tathem (Capalaba FC), who were named in the in the initial squad, are also now unavailable.
Meanwhile, three players have been been added to the Queensland State Team Men’s squad heading into Saturday’s double-header between the NPL All-Stars and Roar’s A-League and Westfield W-League teams at Dolphin Stadium.
Brisbane Strikers goalkeeper Brendan White and Eastern Suburbs pair Hyeongjoon Son and Delors Tuyishime have been brought in to bolster Cahn’s selection options.
Initial squad members Max Brown (Gold Coast Knights), Joe Duckworth (Lions FC), Henry Hore (Lions FC), Sam Roper (Peninsula Power), Harrison Sawyer (Gold Coast Knights) and Matthew Schmidt (Gold Coast Knights) are unavailable through injury or absence.
This weekend’s Women’s match commences at 5:00pm and the Men’s match begins at 7:00pm.
Both squads will then return to action the following Saturday, 12 December in another huge double-header against the New South Wales State Team at Perry Park.
Football NSW recently named a strong Men’s squad which will be led by former Australia international Luke Wilkshire (Head Coach) and another former Socceroo in Nathan Burns (Assistant Coach).
The travelling party includes A-League experience in the likes of Matthew Sim, Yianni Perkatis, Glen Trifiro and Charles Lokolingoy.
