Football Queensland (FQ) has today released a Blue Card Club Guide to assist Queensland clubs in safeguarding junior participants.
“Football Queensland is committed to protecting the thousands of children across the state who play our game, and supporting our clubs and zones to ensure they are well-equipped to implement safeguarding children measures,” FQ President Ben Richardson said.
“The development of the Blue Card Club Guide aligns with FQ’s Strategic Plan, which outlines a focus on improving our support of volunteers and designing minimum standards for clubs across all levels of the game.”
“Football Queensland’s Blue Card Club Guide release follows the implementation of the ‘No Badge, No Bench, No Ref Room’ policy earlier this year, which has been mandated across all state-wide competitions to ensure a consistent approach to coach identification and registrations,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Ensuring all coaches in the state are registered and hold a current blue card is integral to FQ’s commitment to delivering high-quality participation experiences for all involved in our game.
“It has been fantastic to see a 15.9% increase in coaching registrations compared to this time last year following the implementation of the ‘No Badge, No Bench, No Ref Room’ policy, and we’re confident that registration numbers will continue to grow as we provide Queensland clubs with additional support and resources to manage and monitor blue card checks for their coaches.
“The Blue Card Club Guide will assist clubs around the state in understanding their role and the processes required to provide a safe environment for junior participants, and we encourage all clubs to take advantage of this new resource as competitions get underway across Queensland.”
