Football Queensland is excited to announce the return of the Central Coast Intercity Cup in 2023 which will be held at the Fraser Coast Sports Precinct on Saturday, 4 March.
The Intercity Cup will feature the FQPL Wide Bay Team of the Season going head-to-head against the FQPL Central Coast Team of the Season.
“With the Intercity Cup returning for 2023, Football Queensland is excited to bring together some of the best men’s and women’s players from across the Wide Bay and Central Coast FQPL competitions,” Acting General Manager – Central Coast Region Jordie Gerbes said.
“Providing these development opportunities are a major part of Football Queensland’s 2023 – 2026 Strategic Plan, which outlines a focus on providing more opportunities for players to compete at a high level and attain more high-quality competitive match minutes.
“The Central Coast Intercity Cup also provides a fantastic opportunity for some of our local coaches to gain experience working with players from a range of different clubs in a representative setting.
“The day is set to be a wonderful celebration of football in the region as the Intercity Cup is held on the same day and at the same venue as the FQ Academy Regional Carnival where local FQ Academy players from the Wide Bay and Central Coast regions will hone their teamwork and ball skills.
“Players and spectators attending the carnival are encouraged to stay after their games to watch their local heroes compete.”
The Intercity Cup Men’s match will take place at 4pm, followed by the Intercity Cup Women’s match at 6pm.
Squads will be confirmed and announced in the coming weeks.
