The Home of the Matildas at La Trobe University will play host to an electric Battle of the States between Victoria and Queensland this September as the best male and female footballers go head-to-head.
Tickets are now on sale for the clash which will feature players from across the NPL Victoria and NPL Queensland.
“As the biggest ever FIFA Women’s World Cup™ draws to a close, Football Victoria is delighted to welcome two Queensland squads to The Home of the Matildas next month for a blockbuster double header,” FV CEO Kimon Taliadoros said.
“After our CommBank Matildas inspired the nation over the past month, the Battle of the States will provide a fantastic opportunity for our football community to get behind their local stars as our NPL players take to the field for two showcase matches.”
“With the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ highlighting Australia’s huge appetite for football, we’re excited to deliver another high-quality product for the community featuring some of the country’s most exciting footballers,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“We look forward to making the Battle of the States a regular fixture on Football Queensland’s football calendar as we continue to work closely with our fellow Member Federations.”
The Victoria v Queensland double header will be held on Saturday, 23 September, with the Women’s match kicking off at 4pm and the Men’s match to follow at 6:30pm.
