Football Queensland (FQ) has released details of the Referee Convention topics for the inaugural Queensland Football Convention, taking place on Saturday, 2 November, and Sunday, 3 November 2024, at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
“The two-day convention will serve as a crucial forum for innovative dialogue and collaborative exploration amongst referees, offering attendees the chance to engage in transformative discussions, discover innovative solutions, and take part in interactive and insightful sessions,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Over the two days, the Queensland Football Convention will offer specialised sessions for clubs, coaches, and referees, each featuring leading national and international speakers and panellists who will provide valuable insights and practical knowledge on key topics for advancing the game.
“For the Referee Convention, FQ has designed targeted sessions addressing critical topics essential for the successful development of referees in the landscape of the modern game, making this a crucial event for all current and aspiring match officials at every level of the game.”
The convention will present referee focused sessions based on the themes of ‘Growth,’ ‘Sustainability,’ and ‘Technology,’ covering the following Referee areas:

Details about ‘Technology’ referee sessions and the speakers for each of the referee and club convention sessions, as well as the topics for the coach convention sessions will be provided soon.
In addition to two days of convention sessions, the Queensland Football Convention will also include a cocktail networking event at the Sunset Lounge at Suncorp Stadium for Brisbane Roar Men’s home opener against Sydney FC, and the Football in Queensland Awards Night at Brisbane City Hall.
Tickets are now on sale and selling fast with only a limited amount of early bird discounted tickets available until Sunday, 22 September for the 2024 Queensland Football Convention.
