Football Queensland has today confirmed the suspension of all football activity across South East Queensland from 8am tomorrow, Wednesday 5 March until further notice due to the anticipated impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The decision to suspend all football activity across the Metro, South Coast, Sunshine Coast and Darling Downs regions has been made to prioritise the safety of all members of the football community.
The suspension of all football activity includes any and all forms of training sessions, matches and other football-related gatherings and will be in effect until further notice. Football Queensland will issue another update on the status of football activity next Monday, 10 March based on the severity of weather impacts in the coming days.
Football Queensland will continue to monitor the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred and will work closely with South East Queensland clubs regarding the resumption of football activity and the rescheduling of impacted fixtures as appropriate.
All participants in the impacted regions are encouraged to follow Queensland Government and local council advice and to stay up-to-date with the latest warnings regarding Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
