Football Queensland continues to make significant strides in coach development across the Central Coast region in 2025, with a growing range of courses, workshops, and accreditation opportunities available to local current and aspiring coaches in the region.
As a key objective in FQ’s 2023-2026 One Football strategic plan, Football Queensland remains committed to expanding its network and equipping more regional coaches with the high-quality skills and resources they need to drive player development.
FQ Senior Manager – Technical for the Central Coast Conference, Alec Wilson, said that 2025 is looking to be one of the biggest years for coach development in the region, citing the success of last weekend’s C Diploma course held in Rockhampton as the most recent example of growth of interest in the game.
“We had 13 local coaches attend the course in Rockhampton and the commitment and passion from each of them was outstanding, with all eager to engage with and develop new coaching methodologies and techniques,” Wilson said.
“Even before the 2025 season had started, we’ve already successfully held multiple courses, including MiniRoos Certificates and Foundation of Football courses with over 70 coaches in attendance, showing just how much the demand for football and coach education is growing in the region as the game keeps evolving.
“These courses are essential to the growth of local football, offering more than just knowledge transfer, but rather they also challenge coaches to refine their methods and critically evaluate their approach, ensuring they can take back the knowledge to their teams and clubs that will help elevate the standard of the game.
“By prioritising continuous education and support sessions and building a culture of professional development, we are ensuring that our coaches have the tools to contribute to the sustained growth and success of football in the Central Coast and beyond.”
Club Development Ambassador for the Central Coast region, Juan Propato, said that the broader impact of these educational courses and programs is about setting the stage for a bright future for football in the region.
“The success of the recent courses is a testament to the strong foundation we’re building for long-term success, both on and off the pitch, and the continuous development of our coaches is vital to the growth of the local game, and the positive feedback we’ve received thus far is proof that we’re moving in the right direction,” Propato said.
“We are already planning additional courses, webinars, and workshops that will continue to support current and any aspiring coaches throughout the year. By offering a variety of learning formats, we aim to make it easier for coaches to access the education they need, wherever they are.
“By educating coaches today, we’re shaping the future of football across the region for tomorrow, and so our focus remains on strengthening our network and providing the best opportunities for coaches, players, and the football community as a whole.”
