Football Queensland endorses the Queensland Government’s commitment to investing in upgrades to Perry Park and a State Home of Community Football. Football Queensland is in ongoing discussions with government to ensure the legacy delivered for football, the state’s number one team participation sport, fully reflects and supports its position as the Olympic Games’ largest revenue generating sport.
Football’s carefully developed ‘100-day review’ submission, representing the collective voice of Australian football and backed by international, national, and state football bodies, outlined a clear plan to:
- Increase revenue and decrease costs for the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee
- Reduce expenditure on capital that provides no lasting benefit to the games or the sport
- Deliver much needed infrastructure for Football in Queensland to support the game from grassroots through to high-performance
The recommendation of additional funding for the upgrade of Perry Park in the Games Independent Infrastructure Coordination Authority (GIICA)’s final report, and the inclusion of Queensland Government contribution towards Perry Park and a State Home of Community Football in Premier Crisafulli’s announcement and the government’s 2032 Delivery Plan, align with the crucial infrastructure outcomes sought by Football.
Football Queensland will continue to keep the football community updated as we progress conversations with government in the coming days.
