Football Queensland (FQ) is proud to unveil its 2024 Annual Report, following the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, 24 May 2025.
Framed by the theme Refine Today, Progress Tomorrow, the 2024 Annual Report captures a year defined by purposeful action and long-term vision. With a focus on strengthening every level of the game, from the grassroots to elite, FQ prioritised sustainable growth, operational refinement, and targeted initiatives that will shape the future of football in Queensland.
Amid another year of strong participation growth, FQ focused on what mattered most to the football community: keeping the game accessible, strengthening football’s relationship with all levels of government and expanding engagement opportunities across all ages, formats, and regions.
“The Annual Report theme really speaks to the work we did in 2024, as the year was about sharpening the way we deliver football by improving our systems, growing our capability, and supporting the people and programs that keep our game moving forward,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“A major step forward in 2024 was the release and implementation of our four operational plans, which now underpin everything we do. These plans take the broad ambitions of the One Football Strategy and translate them into clear, measurable targets that guide our decisions, shape our delivery, and keep us focused on what matters most.
“Throughout the year, we also saw a growing alignment across our football community. While there were challenges and periods of adjustment, a stronger shared understanding of our direction emerged. That sense of collective purpose was key in turning our operational plans and strategies into action and delivering meaningful outcomes on the ground.”
The progress in 2024 was supported by continued financial discipline, with FQ recording its eleventh consecutive surplus. This strong financial position enabled targeted reinvestment into key initiatives focused on development, participation, and long-term sustainability.
As a result, FQ was able to make meaningful progress in areas such as improving access and support for women and girls, advancing referee and coach development, as well as the continued expansion of competitive pathways that connect the football pyramid and create more opportunities for players to advance their careers.
As the year came to a close, the inaugural Queensland Football Convention truly stood out as a landmark moment for the game, providing a unique chance for coaches, clubs, and industry leaders from across Queensland and beyond to come together, share ideas, and collaborate on shaping the future of football in our state.
“The focus on refinement across our game in 2024 wasn’t about slowing down the momentum from previous years; it was about being deliberate in our actions, really listening to our community, and laying the groundwork that will keep football progressing and thriving, no matter where you live or how you play,” Cavallucci added.
“I want to take a moment to thank everyone who contributed to football in Queensland in 2024. The progress we’ve made is because of the passion, hard work, and teamwork within our community. Together, we’ve built something special, and we’re ready to carry that energy into years ahead.”
