The Queensland football community will celebrate the contributions of women and girls across the game as 2026 Female Football Week celebrations are held from Friday, 8 May to Sunday, 17 May.
The nationwide initiative shines a spotlight on the crucial role of women and girls in football as a host of events and activations are held across the state and country showcasing the achievements of female participants.
“Football Queensland is delighted to be welcoming more women and girls to our game every year, both on the field as players and match officials and off the field as coaches, administrators and supporters,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Female Football Week provides us with a valuable opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women and girls across our game while continuing to increase the accessibility of football in Queensland by delivering more inclusive programs and initiatives like Girls United, Q-League Schools and female-only coaching courses, among others.
“We encourage our clubs to host their own Female Football Week events and activations for female participants, and invite the wider football community to join us in recognising the integral role of women and girls in football by getting involved in Female Football Week celebrations across the state.”
To acknowledge Queensland individuals and clubs for their outstanding efforts and achievements within the women’s game, Football Queensland will feature Female Football Week Award winners across the FQ website and social media channels throughout Female Football Week.
