As #FemaleFootballWeek winds down this weekend, Football Queensland is thrilled to name our last 2025 FFW award winner, the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐂! 🌠⚽
Led by four consecutive female presidents since 2011 and backed by a volunteer base that’s now over 80% women, Gin Gin FC has become a powerhouse for female participation and progress in regional football.
Since 2023, the club has added teams to the local Girls United League and fielded its first-ever competitive women’s side in 2024. This year, they’ve taken another step towards long-term progress and success by appointing a Women’s and Girls’ Ambassador and launching their first girls-only MiniRoos team.
The results speak for themselves: player numbers have doubled since 2021, nine out of ten coaches are female, and the club’s U15s team brought home their first ever grand final win in 2024 - Gin Gin FC are setting the standard.
Great work Gin Gin FC!

As #FemaleFootballWeek events and excitement continue to sweep clubs across our state, FQ is proud to name 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐌𝐜𝐅𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐂 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫. 🐯⚽
A tireless volunteer, passionate coach, and newly appointed club secretary, Mel does it all; juggling multiple coaching roles, managing registrations, coordinating functions, and even lending a hand in the canteen or cleaning up after matches. Her dedication behind the scenes ensures that every player and family feels welcome, supported, and part of something special.
With two jobs and family who also play the game, Mel still somehow finds time to uplift her football community. Her leadership is quiet but powerful as she mentors young athletes, assists new members, and drives a culture built on fairness, respect, and inclusion.
Respected, relied on, and deeply admired, Mel’s impact can be seen in every corner of the club. She doesn’t do it for the recognition, but today, we’re very proud to give it to her.
Congratulations Mel. 👏
