Football is set to boast an even greater identity in the City of Logan with Brisbane Roar and Football Brisbane announcing moves to the Logan Metro Sports Precinct.
The three-time Hyundai A-League champions will relocate their operations and administration to the burgeoning South-East city and be joined at the facility by Football Brisbane.
Traditionally a rugby league stronghold, Logan is becoming a major hub for football following Football Queensland’s relocation to Meakin Park in 2014.
Logan City Deputy Mayor and Sport & Community Services Chair Russell Lutton welcomed the further presence of the sport.
“Football is the world game and right here in Logan we are home to people from 217 different cultures,” Cr Lutton said.
“We see this partnership as a natural fit for our residents, football in Queensland and the development of the game.
“This is joining the dots. This is joining it from the grassroots through Football Brisbane, Football Queensland to the Roar.”
Roar’s Hyundai A-League team will continue to train at Griffith University’s Nathan campus in the immediate future with a timeline on the construction of training fields at Logan Metro Sports Precinct yet to be finalised.
Brisbane Roar CEO David Pourre said the relocation would help to grow the club’s supporter base.
“We have a great responsibility and we belong to all Queenslanders,” Pourre said.
“We love Brisbane, we always will be Brisbane Roar but it’s all about how we can service Queensland as well.”

Head of the Hyundai A-League Damien de Bohun, who also attended Tuesday’s announcement, reiterated the development of football facilities as an important step forward for the sport in Australia.
“From our perspective, improved facilities are a huge part of the future of the game,” de Bohun said.
“We now have 1.96 million participants, boys and girls, men and women, right around the country playing this wonderful game – the world game, as the Deputy Mayor said – and there’s no doubt a facility of this nature will only help that.”
