Football Queensland is pleased to welcome experienced coach David Nugent to the role of Regional Development Officer for South West Queensland.
Nugent’s appointment follows an identified need for greater coaching support, which was raised as a key community concern during the recent strategic governance review of the region.
A former Regional Coaching & Development Manager for Football Queensland, he has previously held junior, youth and SAP coaching positions across both SWQ Thunder FC and Western Pride FC.
Nugent will work primarily with the regional areas of South West Queensland in delivering coaching courses, developing pathways, mentoring community coaches and helping to enhance communication.
His role is designed to expand on the coach education currently provided in Toowoomba by SWQ Thunder FC.
The 25-year coach says his understanding of the area – having lived in the South-West since 2001 – will be an advantage.
“I’m very familiar with the region and of course the local commitments and parts within our football family,” Nugent said.
“The vast majority of our coaches work in that community sector and do need support as much as possible.
“I think the idea is a great one and it’s certainly going to be a good challenge. I’m looking forward to it.”
