Sunshine Coast has finished top in five of eight age groups to be crowned the Champion Region for a third straight year at the 2016 Football Queensland Futsal State Titles.
Held over the Easter weekend, 56 teams across eight age groups and six cities gathered in the Brisbane metropolitan area for the pinnacle of the sport in Queensland.
Each team – representing Brisbane, Bundaberg, the Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, South-West Queensland and the Sunshine Coast – took part in a round robin format within their respective age groups.
Sunshine Coast scooped the overall title ahead of runners-up Gold Coast and third-placed East Brisbane, with matches played at four venues: Redlands College, Eagle Sports Complex in Mackenzie, Sleeman Sports Complex in Chandler and the Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre.
The tournament doubles as a major talent identification opportunity for State Metro teams, which represent Queensland alongside Regional teams at the FFA Futsal National Championships.
