Galaxy FC and South Brisbane Futsal Club combined to make it four wins from four in a Puma F-League feast at Eagles Sports Complex in Brisbane on Saturday.
The two Queensland clubs enjoyed a perfect round of results as both Women’s teams kicked-off their campaigns with victories, while the two Men’s sides notched their first wins of the season.
South Brisbane Women fought back from a 2-1 deficit in the opening match of the day against North Canberra Untouchables to prevail 3-2 with Mel Weckert’s double adding to Nicola Eagle’s opener.
Not only did the result secure a first-up three points, it also extended the team’s unbeaten run in Queensland to 11 matches.
South Brisbane’s Men added to that result with a commanding 5-1 win over the same opposition as two Julian Edwards goals ended North Canberra’s resistance.
Despite dropping last weekend’s season-opener, Saturday’s victory improved their record to four wins from six outings.
Galaxy FC continued where South Brisbane left off in the afternoon with braces from Georgie Bridges and Jo Burgess helping secure a 6-4 epic in the Women’s match.
Galaxy Men then rounded out a dominant day for Queensland clubs by posting six different goalscorers in a 7-1 win. Bruno Cannavan’s side unbeaten start to the campaign sees them sitting second ahead of a two-week break.
While Galaxy players rest up, South Brisbane head to Sydney this weekend for testing matches against the likes of Inner West Magic, East Coast Heat and Dural Warriors.
