The representation of Queensland referees at the highest level continued this week with Jarred Gillett and David Walsh involved at the Kirin Cup Final in Japan.
Gillett (referee) and Walsh (assistant referee) were joined for the Final by fellow Australians George Lakrindis (assistant referee) and Ben Williams (fourth official).
The quartet’s involvement at the four-team international tournament forms part of the FFA-JFA Referee Exchange Program, which will also see Gillett and Williams take charge of domestic J-League fixtures.
Gold Coast local Gillett, a FIFA Referee, and Brisbane-based Walsh, a FIFA Assistant Referee, both boast previous international experience in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and teamed up for the 2015 Hyundai A-League Grand Final.
Bosnia & Herzegovina lifted the trophy with a 2-1 win over hosts Japan courtesy of a Milan Djuric brace.
The two sides beat Denmark and Bulgaria respectively to reach the decider.
