Brisbane Roar are looking to Queensland to continue their Hyundai A-League preparations with a pair of showpiece friendlies scheduled over the coming weeks.
The club and Football Queensland yesterday jointly announced that, for the second year running, John Aloisi’s men will take on the PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues’ stand-out young prospects.
The three-time national champions will be less than a fortnight out from the new season when they meet a PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Under 23 Select team at QSAC on 24 September.

Roar have also scheduled a clash with the best of Football Brisbane’s Flight Centre Premier League this weekend as one of three pre-season fixtures in the state capital.
Lions FC coach and ex-Roar man Warren Moon will lead a 22-player squad at QSAC this Saturday night.
“We want to give the Roar a good hit out as a part of their preparation for the upcoming season,” Moon said.
“We won’t be too focused on the result but we will be looking at putting on a good competitive performance.”
Speaking at Tuesday’s Roar-PS4NPL Select announcement, Brisbane captain and Football Queensland Community Football Ambassador Matt McKay urged any up-and-comers to take their opportunities.
“I would love for all the Select sides to come out and prove a point and want to beat us,” McKay said.
“For sure these players have an opportunity.”
Roar aren’t the only Hyundai A-League club to include Queensland opposition in their pre-season schedule with Townsville-based Northern Fury to host both Melbourne City and Wellington Phoenix in September.
