Regional futsal players will have more opportunity to represent Queensland at the FFA National Futsal Championships following a restructure of the State Team trial process.
Players from outside Metro areas will now be divided into Northern Region and Southern Region squads in recognition of the additional logistical and financial challenges.
The number of Northern and Southern Region teams to compete at the National Championships will be determined by an assessment of the available quality in each age group.
Football Queensland Futsal Administrator Trevor Edwards cited reduced travel costs and an increased opportunity for regional teams to train together as primary reasons for the new approach.
“I’m excited about the improved opportunities for regional players and coaches provided by the restructuring,” Edwards said.
“It’s not easy for the regional areas in any sport and we are seeking to give the players the best opportunity to reach the highest level within futsal.
“Our restructure means that the preparation of the teams will be significantly improved from previous years and I look forward to seeing how the teams compete at Nationals this coming year.”

NORTHERN REGION (Townsville)

- 12 & 13 Boys: 8.30am-10.00am
- 14 & 15 Boys: 10.15am-11.45am
- 13 & 15 Girls: 12.00pm-1.30pm
- 16 Boys: 1.45pm-3.00pm
