Queenslander Max Crane has been named Referee of the Championships in the U14 age group at the FFA National Youth Championships (NYC) for Boys.
The 19-year-old’s performances impressed assessors throughout the week at the elite youth tournament in Coffs Harbour.
Crane, who is already an assistant at senior level in the PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues, was identified for the NYC after being ranked inside the top two referees at May’s U19 School Sport State Championships in Townsville.
Football Queensland State Referee Development Officer David Wiebe congratulated the young official on the achievement.
“Max has clear talent for managing players,” Wiebe said.
“He listens and adapts his game whenever he is assessed and it’s this attitude which has helped him achieve what he has so far.
“Max’s future looks bright and his hard work and dedication is paying off. I look forward to seeing Max continue to develop in the NPL in the coming years.”
Crane was one of four referees representing Queensland at the NYC, which concluded on Friday.
