Football Queensland would like to express our deep sadness at the passing of Stefano Salvatori.
Stefano enjoyed an illustrious playing career, most notably being part of the famous AC Milan squad that won the European Cup, Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup in 1989/90.
Stefano is also fondly remembered at Scottish club Hearts of Midlothian, where he is credited for his contribution to the team that won the 1998 Scottish Cup.
Stefano held a UEFA A Coaching Licence and made a remarkable impact on youth football in Brisbane, at Albany Creek Excelsior and Olympic FC.
Stefano attended our recent State Coaching Conference with his wife Gillian, and his enthusiasm for coaching remained undimmed even at that late stage.
Stefano’s family acknowledge and appreciate the camaraderie Stefano enjoyed within the Football Queensland community and would like to invite those who knew him to attend a service to celebrate his life.
The service will be held at The Grand View Room – Hillstone, St Lucia Golf Links at 12:30pm on Wednesday 8 November. Dark attire is not necessary.
In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Stefano’s honour to Karuna Hospice Service, Windsor.
Stefano will be remembered for his passion, love and contribution to our game.
