Football Queensland (FQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon McKain and the re-election of Tony Davis to the FQ Board of Directors.
Following Saturday’s Annual General Meeting at Meakin Park, members elected new Director McKain and re-elected Davis for an additional term on the FQ Board.
McKain, a 16-time Socceroo, rose through the ranks at the Queensland Academy of Sport and played in the old National Soccer League, overseas in Romania, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia and for Wellington Phoenix and Adelaide United in the Hyundai A-League. He represented Australia at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the 2005 Confederations Cup in Germany and the 2011 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar.
Now playing for Rochedale Rovers in the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL), McKain also works for Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) as a player development manager, bringing great insight and knowledge to his new position on the FQ Board.
“Since retiring from professional football 18 months ago, I feel I’m now uniquely positioned to contribute to football from an administration point of view,” McKain said.
“As a current FQPL player and with young children also playing the game, I’m excited to make a difference to the game at all levels as a Director on the FQ Board.”
Davis, who was appointed to the FQ Board of Directors in 2015, said he was proud to be re-elected.
“As a board, we have made some great advancements in recent years and I’m looking forward to being a part of Football Queensland’s promising future,” Davis said.
McKain and Davis join Andrew Johnston, Ben Richardson, Samantha O’Brien and new President Glenn Smith and new Vice-President Llew Jury on the FQ Board.
